Ms. Laura Hanold
Education
B.S. Chemistry, Sweet Briar College 2010
Research Interests
Organic Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Peptide Synthesis.
As an undergraduate I gained experience the synthesis and photochemical study of 3(2H)-furanones, a project that sparked my interest in organic chemistry. My current research includes the design and evaluation of synthetically constrained peptide inhibitors of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The peptides synthesized are designed to mimic and block key protein-protein interactions necessary for activation of EGFR, thereby inhibiting signaling events involved in cancer cell proliferation.
